How do I apply for a temporary handicap placard?
Forms are available at the Police Department's Administrative Services Division. The application must be completed, certified by a medical doctor, podiatrist or chiropractor, and then approved by the Chief of Police. There is a $4.00 fee payable by check or money order to the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission. Cash cannot be accepted.
Who do I contact if I feel there is an error in a police report?
Should you feel there is an error on the police report, contact the police department at 732.363.0200 extension 5360 and ask the Watch Commander to leave a message for the investigating officer to return your call.

Does LPD fax or email accident reports?
The police department will fax or email an accident report upon written request.
Where do I obtain a copy of my accident report?
Accident reports may be obtained at the Records Division of the Police Department from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday to Friday with exception of holidays.
Is there any fee associated with obtaining a copy of an accident report?
The fee for an accident report is .05 cents.
How do I go about retrieving personal belongings from my vehicle that has been impounded?
The registered owner may retrieve personal effects such as insurance, registration, medication, computer equipment, tools, and miscellaneous items. The owner must present identification and proof of ownership to the towing company.
My car was impounded for expired registration/insurance. How do I go about getting it released?
Expired Insurance
- Contact a New Jersey approved insurance company for basic coverage.
- OBTAIN a temporary insurance card from the company.
- Bring the temporary insurance card with you to Police Records
