ORDINANCE NO. 2011-24 SUMMARY

The following Ordinance deletes in its entirety Section 4-3 of the Code of the Township of Lakewood, entitled "Transient Merchants, Peddlers and Hawkers" and replaces it with a new Section 4-3, entitled "Transient Merchants, Peddlers and Hawkers", to provide for requirements to regulate and limit the issuance of licenses for Transient Merchants, Peddlers and Hawkers. This Ordinance provides that it shall be unlawful for any hawkers, peddlers, canvassers, solicitors, mobile food vendors or junk dealers, all as defined in the Ordinance, to engage in any such business or operation in the Township of Lakewood without having first obtained a license in compliance with the provisions of this Chapter, and in any event only in accordance with the terms and provisions of this Chapter, and only in parts or locations of the Township as permitted. This Ordinance further outlines all regulations relating to the issuance of licenses, including Application Requirements; Permit Requirements for Charitable Solicitations; Investigation of Application; License Fees and Exemptions; Governing Regulations; Noise Restrictions; Location Restrictions; Badges; Violations; Revocation of License; Bonding Requirements; Vehicle Regulations; Littering; Packaging of Goods; Eating Near Vehicles; Compliance with Regulations; Expiration of Licenses; Exemption for Certain Business; use of Vending Unit; Prohibitions; and Violations and Penalties.

PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that the foregoing Ordinance, having been introduced on first reading on Thursday, April 28, 2011, was duly passed on final reading at a regular meeting of the Township Committee of the Township of Lakewood in the County of Ocean on Thursday, May 12, 2011, at the Lakewood Municipal Building, 231 Third Street, Lakewood, New Jersey.
