Charges of a more serious nature, i.e., indictable charges are initially filed with the Municipal Court but then forwarded to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office. The County Prosecutor reviews the case and all supporting documents and makes a determination whether to handle the case at the Superior Court level or whether to remand the case to the Municipal Court for disposition.
