Beth Medrash Govoha
617 6th Street
Lakewood, NJ 08701

Phone: 732-367-1060 Ext. 4200

What began in Lakewood, New Jersey in 1943 with a handful of idealistic young Jewish scholars has evolved to an enrollment of more than 6,300 motivated undergraduate and graduate students, making Beth Medrash Govoha (BMG) the world’s leading center for Talmudic higher education (the historical body of Jewish tradition and law), with affiliations to similar educational and communal institutions throughout the United States and abroad. The institution’s enrollment is expected to continue to grow as BMG’s sterling reputation attracts those seeking an advanced Talmudic education.

In recent years BMG has undertaken a successful expansion plan that includes renovating its original locations and developing 3 new campus extensions throughout Lakewood. The new buildings are strategically located to allow students to walk between the various campus extensions, creating an active academic hub for students, alumni and their families. As BMG has grown, it has in turn transformed Lakewood, creating a strong economic base that is the primary anchor for Lakewood’s economy and positively impacting on Ocean County’s future.

BMG is licensed as an institution of higher education and its educational programs are accredited. Its academic focus and communal responsibilities remain true to the vision of its great founder, Rabbi Aaron Kotler of blessed memory, who came to Lakewood amidst the turmoil of the Holocaust in order to found the institution. Faculty and staff members are recognized to be of impeccable credentials and have a unique focus: Sustaining and strengthening the partnership between the institution and Lakewood, for the benefit of the entire community –

Beth Medrash Govoha’s continuing mission... then, now, and tomorrow.
